Action Staffing Ltd is actively recruiting professional, high-calibre Temporary Nursery Practitioners (Level 2 & Level 3), Montessori Educators, and Early Years Assistants for premium agency placements across prestigious, Ofsted-registered day nurseries, corporate bilingual centres, and independent pre-schools located in Canary Wharf, Wood Wharf, and the wider London Docklands (E14).

This role provides complete scheduling flexibility: select the specific days and hours you want to work each week. Whether you want supplementary bank shifts around your personal studies or a reliable 40-hour agency week covering peak staff-to-child ratios, we offer immediate bookings across central Docklands locations accessible via the Jubilee Line, Elizabeth Line, and DLR.

London Pay & Shift Details

• Hourly Pay Rate: £14.50 – £17.00 per hour (dependent on qualification tier, specific nursery setting, and experience; weekly pay with accrued holiday pay)
• Shift Patterns:
  • Full Days (07:30 – 18:30 / 08:00 – 18:00)
  • Morning Sessions (08:00 – 13:00)
  • Afternoon Sessions (13:00 – 18:00)
  • Priority emergency same-day morning bookings with enhanced hourly rates
• Contract Type: Temporary / Locum / Flexible Bank Staff
• Start Date: Immediate starts available following compliance clearance

Key Responsibilities

• Providing attentive, individualized care and creative developmental support to babies, toddlers, and pre-school children (aged 3 months to 5 years).
• Supporting daily room routines, play-based early learning, and creative activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and contemporary early education practices.
• Assisting permanent room leaders and key workers in upholding mandatory regulatory child-to-adult ratios across all age brackets.
• Managing mealtimes, rest times, and personal hygiene/nappy-changing schedules safely and hygienically.
• Adhering strictly to safeguarding standards, identifying potential risks, and escalating any child protection concerns directly to the nursery Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
• Greeting corporate and local parents warmly during morning check-ins and evening collections, offering professional feedback on daily activities.
• Integrating smoothly and proactively into dynamic, fast-paced teams across private day nurseries and kindergarten settings.

Candidate Requirements

• Childcare Qualifications: CACHE, NVQ, or BTEC Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years, Childcare, or Children’s Workforce (unqualified assistants must demonstrate at least 6 months of paid UK day nursery experience).
• Compliance Checks:
  • Enhanced DBS check registered on the DBS Update Service (Child Workforce), or willingness to process an application through Action Staffing Ltd.
  • Verified Right to Work in the UK (we cannot offer visa sponsorship for temporary agency shifts).
  • 2 professional references from previous line managers (with at least one from a recent childcare or educational setting).
  • A transparent 5-year work, training, and education history.
• Attributes: Reliable, articulate, proactive, and well-presented with strong communication skills suitable for high-standard nursery settings.
• Desirable: Valid 12-hour Paediatric First Aid certificate, Food Hygiene Level 2, and Safeguarding Children certification.
