Nursery Officer / Room Leader (DSL Qualified | Temporary Cover)

About the Role

Are you an experienced Early Years Leader holding a current Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification?

Action Staffing Ltd is currently recruiting a qualified Nursery Officer / Room Leader (DSL Qualified) on behalf of a wonderful hospital-associated nursery setting based in Hampstead, London (NW3).

This is a full-time, temporary position designed to provide essential cover due to maternity leave and internal organizational changes, offering competitive NHS Band 3 pay and running until August 28, 2026.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will split your talents between room leadership and safeguarding coordination:

• Manage the daily running of the room, guiding staff allocations, coordinating activities, and ensuring high-quality early years care
• Utilize your active DSL training to monitor safeguarding concerns and maintain strict compliance with child protection procedures
• Oversee the planning and implementation of creative, age-appropriate learning experiences based on the EYFS framework
• Lead the room team smoothly through rotating shift patterns, managing mealtimes, rest periods, and outdoor exploration safely
• Foster clear, comforting communication with families and work cooperatively with senior nursery management

Requirements

What we are looking for:

• A recognized Level 3 Childcare Qualification or higher
• An active, verified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification is mandatory
• A valid, up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate
• Availability to start as soon as possible and commit fully to the temporary contract ending on August 28, 2026
• Exceptional organizational skills, emotional resilience, and a composed leadership demeanor

A clear, current Enhanced DBS check is strictly required.

Salary & Working Hours

• Pay Scale: NHS Band 3 (Fully inclusive of Inner London HCAS allowances)
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
• Shift Patterns (Rotating daytime hours):
  • Early Shift: 07:15 AM – 3:15 PM
  • Late Shift: 09:45 AM – 5:45 PM
• Contract Duration: Temporary until August 28, 2026
