1-to-1 SEN Support Assistant | Early Years Specialist

Action Staffing Ltd is recruiting for a dedicated 1-to-1 SEN Support Assistant to join a supportive team in Welling, Kent / South East London (DA16).

This role is a temporary contract for one term, with a strong possibility of extending for the right candidate. You will be working closely with a 3-year-old child who has developmental delays, specifically in communication, language, and social/emotional areas.

Your Responsibilities

As a dedicated 1-to-1 SEN Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide high-quality 1-to-1 assistance, modeling play and encouraging the child to engage with the nursery environment
• Use specialized techniques to support the child’s limited speech and foster social interaction
• Support the child with specific sensory needs around food, ensuring a positive and calm mealtime experience
• Use gentle redirection and positive reinforcement to manage behavior and emotional development throughout the day
• Work alongside the SENCO and parents to monitor the child’s progress and adapt support strategies

Requirements

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically developmental delays or communication difficulties
• Strong patience, empathy, and ability to meet a child’s sensory and emotional needs
• Understanding of the EYFS framework and how to adapt activities for inclusive learning
• Ability to commit to the designated shift pattern

Salary & Working Hours

• Salary: Approximately £13.00 per hour
• Hours: 28 hours per week
• Shift Pattern:
  • Monday to Wednesday: 09:00 – 16:00
  • Thursday & Friday: 09:00 – 13:00
• Contract: Temporary for 1 Term (Possibility of extension)

The nursery is located in Welling, Kent / South East London (DA16).
