Acting Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover – Immediate Start)

About the Role

Are you an experienced early years professional ready to step into an Acting Nursery Manager role on a maternity cover basis?

Action Staffing Ltd is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Ofsted-registered nursery in Queen’s Park, North West London (NW6) for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident leader with a strong background in nursery management, deputy management, or third-in-charge roles who is looking for Nursery Manager jobs in London, Early Years leadership roles, or childcare management vacancies in North West London.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the nursery during the maternity cover period:

• Ensure the highest standards of care, education, safeguarding, and compliance with EYFS and Ofsted regulations
• Lead, support and motivate the nursery team, ensuring staff are well-guided, confident, and delivering outstanding practice across all rooms
• Oversee operational duties including staffing, rotas, and safeguarding procedures
• Maintain a safe and stimulating environment where children can thrive
• Build strong relationships with parents and carers
• Support staff development and ensure smooth continuity of leadership in the absence of the permanent manager

Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

• A minimum of a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification
• Previous experience working as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or Third in Charge
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding procedures, child development, and Ofsted inspection requirements
• Confident and adaptable leadership with excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage a busy nursery environment effectively

An Enhanced DBS check will be required prior to employment.
